On my way home today I was thinking about love. I was thinking how love for someone increases through time. Time affords experiences. My love for my Nelson, Emily, my family, and close friends has grown through time because of time's opportunities of endurance. Christ's love is perfect because He has endured all that we have endured. He has experienced all that we have and continues to so. I am grateful for the opportunity to journey through life with my loved ones and they help to increase my knowledge and understanding of love.
In Emily's short time with me she has taught me so much about love. Her innocence is so pure and beautiful. Each day my breath is taken away when I pick her up in the morning. This special gift is mine to hold and love. Yet I feel she is loving and holding me. Emily often grasps onto my finger when I hold and carry her. It may she just likes to hold things, but I also like to think she wants to hold onto my hand. Whatever reason it may be, I love feeling her grasp and hold. I hope she knows I will follow the example of my parents, earthly and heavenly, and will be there to hold her hand throughout time. I will be there to encourage, comfort, and guide. My love will endure eternally.
Moroni 7:45-48 explains the pure love of Christ:
45 And a charity suffereth long, and is b kind, and c envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily d provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
46 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth. Wherefore, cleave unto charity, which is the greatest of all, for all things must fail—
47 But a charity is the pure b love of Christ, and it endureth c forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, a pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true b followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall c be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be d purified even as he is pure. Amen.
