10 Months

This little bug is 10 months already.  She brings so much joy and sunshine into our home.  We love her more than words can say.  It is hard to remember life without her.  Lily changes and grows each day.  I find it hard to see drastic changes daily, but as I compare her month pictures the changes are drastic!  It is the little growing day by day that brings about the big changes.  I love you sweet Lily bug!

  • Becoming more of a mover as she rotates her body around to move from place to place.  She gets on "all 4's," but has not yet taken the first move forward.  We know once Lily does, we will be in trouble.
  • Loves to play with toys, dolls, and paper.
  • Great eater.  Lily loves yogurt, fruits, veggies, bread, and cheese.  She seems to prefer people food over formula.
  • Can drink from a sippy cup by herself.
  • Smiles at everyone around her, as long as mom is nearby
  • Loves to play outside on a blanket, go for walks, & go swimming
  • Enjoys to play in the water at the pool & in the bathtub
  • Says mm, dd, and bb sounds
  • Claps her hands on cue when asked

Sweet Lil' Drivers

Our friend and neighbor, Emily Green, let us borrow their toy car for a few weeks while they are in the process of moving.  Both Lily and Emily have loved driving it around the house.  Emily loves to push Lily around in it or follow behind me in her car when I push Lily.  I just hope the time for them to drive real cars doesn't approach too fast!

Doctors & Dentists

After a few restless nights, high fevers, and heavy congestion, I decided it was time to take the girls to a doctor.  The doctor found out that the girls had ear infections, so they were put on an antibiotic and were feeling better soon.  Emily loved waiting on the mini bench at the doctor's office.

A few weeks later, Emily had her second dentist appointment. She did such a great job!  With green "Tinkerbell" toothpaste, they were able to even clean her teeth.  Emily was such a brave girl.  As soon as we got home, she had fun pretending to give daddy a checkup.  It was later followed by a tickle fight!

Swimming

With warmer than average weather, we enjoyed the first swim of the season.  The girls loved splashing in the water in the sunshine.  Both of them did not want to leave even after over an hour in the water.  I loved watching them become comfortable to move about in the water by themselves.  We are looking forward to cooling off lots in the water this summer.

Dress ups, Princesses, & Cars

Emily loves to play dress up with hats, shoes, and jackets.  Without any direction from me, she has made this a favorite past time leading the activity herself.  I love it when her shoes end up on the wrong feet or I capture a sly, sophisticated grin of pleasure.  She is quick to say, "So cute!"  And that is what she is!!  I love my girly-girl to pieces!

At times, Emily loves to play with cars.  She talks to them like dolls, cleans them, and even puts necklaces on them.  This shows she is a girly-girl through and through.

Although Emily loves all sorts of pretending, princess pretending is her favorite!  She loves to caretake for her princess dolls day and night.  I love watching her carry them around against her belly, patting them to sleep.  Emily is my little princess, crown and all.

Spontaneous Trip Home

With a job interview in Salt Lake for Nelson, we decided to make it a spontaneous road trip home.  It was fun to surprise my mom on Mother's Day with our arrival.  On our way down we enjoyed a Sunday picnic lunch at a local Beaver park.  The wind was brisk, but the girls enjoyed being out of the car for a bit.  Nana, Grandpa, and Sissa were surprised to see us at their front door.  We enjoyed the night on a walk and visiting.

Monday brought fun at my parents' neighborhood park.  We love to explore new parks and the fun to be shared together there.  The girls always love the slides and swings.  It is always hard to go home.

Tuesday we ventured to Hogle Zoo to see some animal surprises, including lions, tigers, monkeys, elephants, and bears.  Nelson had not been to the zoo for many years, so it was neat for him to see so many changes that have been made.  Of course we loved watching the girls discover the animals for the first time up close.  We left the zoo to enjoy the evening at Nelson's parents home, playing in the backyard!

Wednesday was a fun adventure at Rush - an arcade and bounce house - with Grandma, Aunt Brooke, Addie, and Eli.  Emily was timid to try the big slide, but eventually went down on her own with the help of fearless Addison by her side.  Playtime and lunch at Brooke's added to the fun, especially as Emily explored Addison's house tent.  So much fun!!!

We were again spoiled with fun and visits from Brooke, Addison, and Eli that evening.  Emily played hard with Addison and loved every minute of it.  We are excited to see them again soon in two weeks for the Yates' Family Reunion in St. George.

Book Worms

The three of us love to read books - together or side-by-side.  We visit the library two to three times a week because we need new books to read over and over again.  Lily is discovering the fun of turning pages.  She especially likes to read books with babies in them.  Emily loves princess and animal books.
